Welcome to the new cols.ca
We've rebuilt cols.ca. It's easier to use on a phone, simpler to find your way around, and built to be accessible. This is what changed.
For more than 40 years, COLS has brought grade 10 students from across Central Ontario together for three days of leadership, friendship and a lot of fun. We wanted the website to feel more like the seminar, so we rebuilt it from scratch.
Easier to find what you need
Whether you're a student, a parent, a teacher, an alum or a sponsor, there's now a clear path for you. The Seminar explains what the weekend is like and who's speaking. Get Involved brings every way to help into one place: nominating a student, volunteering, joining the staff team and sponsoring an ambassador.
“Socioeconomic status should never be a barrier.”
Free for students, made possible by you
The seminar has always been free for the students who attend. It costs $400 to send one student, which covers three days of food, two nights of accommodation, speakers and activities. The new site makes it simpler to see where your support goes and to give.
Built for everyone
We designed the site to work well on phones, tablets and computers, and to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1, level AA). It works with screen readers and keyboards, and turns off animations if your device asks for reduced motion. Our accessibility page has the details. If something gets in your way, please tell us and we'll fix it.
No accounts or passwords
When nominations and registration open, you won't need to create an account or remember a password. You'll fill in a form, and we'll email you a link if there's anything more to do.
Stay in the loop
Check News for stories from the COLS community and Events for what's coming up. To get updates by email, join our mailing list. Teachers and school staff can sign up for school updates on the same form.
Have a question, or spot something that isn't right? Get in touch. We'd love to hear what you think.
